Story

During the Spring semester, I have been working at Allfresh Foods International, Inc., DBA Bally Plus Food Solutions as a Logistics and Inventory Control Intern. Bally Plus Food Solutions is a customized food manufacturing, sauce development and co-packing companies based in Garland, Texas. The company provides a variety of products including but not limited to Prepared Foods, Meal Kits and Sauces. Our target clients include restaurants, grocery stores and wholesalers.

As a Logistics and Inventory Control Intern, I am responsible for managing daily shipments and receives, contacting carriers and maintaining warehouses inventory. I use Quick Book system (QB) and Sage 50cloud Accounting system (Peachtree) to make purchase orders (PO) and invoices. Our company also use DiCentral (EDI software service provider) to receive client’s PO. When a new PO comes in, I not only need to cooperate with our production team and buyer to meet the client’s requirements for product quantity and arrival time, but also contact with logistics company to schedule the pick-up time and make the appointment of delivery. Throughout this process, I learned that things are always changing and must be adjusted flexibly and do follow up with business partners at any time.

I archive production usage into the QB system every day to track the quantity of each SKU and monitor inventory level. I need to calculate the difference between actual usage and required usage to make sure we do not make too much yield lost. Besides, in order to improve the accuracy of inventory in our three main warehouses, I work with my team to take inventory monthly to check on hand inventory.

I am grateful for this internship opportunity that helps me understand the application of supply chain management in the actual industry and use the knowledge I learned in the graduate course-Operation Management and Global Logistics and Transportation to actually operate the company's supply chain.
