Story

Kanarys is a social enterprise that works with organizations to build more inclusive cultures, and is committed to creating a world where diversity is sought after, inclusiveness is honored and equity is evident. It gathers and analyzes cultural and demographic data, enabling individuals to speak up and organizations to build more inclusive work cultures. It is the first and only data-driven platform that fosters collaboration on diversity, equity and inclusion issues between employers and employees.

Being a part of such a mission-critical project with an opportunity to use my analytical skills to good use, I had an incredible learning experience, and from the best! I was assigned the tasks of data sourcing and data collection along with designing the data analysis process down to every detail. Through my interactions with the CEO, Mandy Price and her guidance, I was able to clearly map the methodology for the platform which was submitted for the provisional patent.

In my capacity as a Data Analyst, I was also responsible for ensuring the development of correct platform framework and laying the groundwork for data analysis processes. As we prepare for our public launch this summer, we anticipate significant increase in user activity on our platform, thereby generating more data. We envision creating dashboards for our company partners shedding a light on critical insights about their work-cultures. I also got a chance to interact with and learn from various professionals with wide-ranging skill sets and backgrounds. Given the tremendous progress we have made so far, I am excited to see what the future holds. All that I have learnt and delivered during my internship would not have been possible without my guiding lights and endearing mentors - Mandy Price, Star Carter and Bennie King. A special shout-out to the UT Dallas MSBA program director, Bill Hefley and my advisors. I'm grateful for everyone who had a hand behind making my journey successful and so fruitful.
